When I wrote last year’s Christmas message, little did I know what was in store for us in 2020 – nobody would have believed it. Yet here we are at the end of the year, in good spirits despite closed borders, economic uncertainty, and the threat of a new outbreak of Covid-19 always at the back of our minds. At the start of the first lockdown in March, we had just printed 12,000 copies of April’s Onehunga Community News, which we couldn’t deliver – although it was eventually distributed in May. In the following months, we didn’t know whether we would get any advertising to speak of – and budgeted for greatly reduced revenue and fewer pages. But we have been blown away by the advertising support we have received, and while it’s not up to the levels of previous years, it has been enough to keep us afloat during these last few months.

We’d like to thank all our advertisers – we always depend on your support but could not have survived this year without you. We also thank our readers, for supporting the shops and businesses who advertise with us, and your ever-encouraging words in support of our publication.

Have a very happy, healthy, and restful holiday – we’ve all earned it this year!

Until February 2021 – Rachel, Janet, Sharleen, Tim and Amanda.
