Our community together – free Christmas lunch
For the third year in a row, there will be a free community Christmas lunch on Christmas Day, and organisers are looking for sponsorship, donations, and funding, to help feed about 250 people.
The lunch is for all members of the community, not just the needy, says Petra Zaleski, vicar of St Peter’s. “This is what Christmas is all about. It’s not only about giving and receiving, it’s about positively connecting everyone in our community.”
It is also an opportunity for anyone willing to volunteer on Christmas Day.
“We’ll have a team of volunteers, so get in touch if you can give an hour on the day.”
Last year’s Christmas lunch was a huge success, with donations of hams, vegetables from local businesses, as well as much needed cash donations.
Give Julie Murphy at New Hope Fellowship a call on 021 02963455 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you, or your business, can sponsor the event, donate a ham, money or spot prizes, help set up and decorate the hall on Christmas Eve, roast veggies on the day, wash dishes, serve food or be a driver for someone – every little helps!
