Brothers raise funds for hungry children1 min read

Two Royal Oak Primary School brothers turned their creativity into a force for good, creating a unique fundraiser to raise money for hungry children in Solomon Islands as part of this year’s World Vision 40 Hour Challenge.

Year 4 student, Evan Miln and his younger brother Ayden in Year 2, spent the 40 Hour Challenge weekend in June creating 40 original artworks for their very own 40 Hour Art Gallery, raising funds for children and families in Solomon Islands. They sat outside for several hours in the on-off rain, and although it wasn’t great for passerby’s, they still sold some artwork.

The brothers challenged themselves to complete 40 pieces of art, combining their love of creativity with a desire to help others. Their collection of drawings featured everything from pōhutukawa flowers and New Zealand landscapes to sharks and animals.

Funds raised in this year’s World Vision 40 Hour Challenge will help provide families in Solomon Islands with seeds, tools, and training to grow more resilient, predictable crops so children have the nutritious food they need to grow healthy and strong.
