Onehunga Harbour Rd resident Sybil Woolmore has been painting ships on the harbour, landscapes and rustic buildings for over 10 years.  Much of her work has been given away and some of the maritime pieces hang on the walls of more than one Holcim depot; Sybil used to work for them at the Onehunga Port. But it was only this year that the Onehunga Harbour Rd resident felt inspired to exhibit, and to seek out other locals with the same aspirations.

The Onehunga Workingman’s Club is laying claim to having the World’s oldest regular Soccer player in 80 year old Ernie Hall: still turning out every week for their Sunday League Social Side. He is New Zealand’s oldest player, and has held that record since he was 70.

Onehunga treads first stage of foreshore

Over 200 people took the opportunity to stroll along the first completed area of foundation earthworks on the Onehunga foreshore this Mother’s Day. The event was unique; contractors Fulton Hogan have not opened up a construction site to the public in such a way before, but as Construction Manager Jen Murphy has often said, she has “never worked with a community like this one before. “
