Cervical cancer is diagnosed in about 150 women a year in New Zealand, with about 50 women dying from it.  What a lot of women do not realise, is that in 97% of cases, cervical cancer is preventable - but only if you have a regular smear test. Well Women & Family Trust offers free, confidential health checks to all women, and you can go along regardless of your circumstances, age, ethnicity, or culture.

When the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) announced in November that the Old Māngere Bridge was closing at the end of the month, it was a great shock to many people. Sad about the loss of the 100 year-old iconic landmark, hundreds took to social media and reminisced about the old times; hanging out, walking, fishing, and riding along the bridge. Others expressed concern about the alternative walking and cycling route; the underpass under the motorway which they say is unsafe and dirty.

In November, Onehunga Playcentre marked its 50th Golden Jubilee with a huge celebration. Past and present whānau came together to chat, reminisce and enjoy the sunshine, celebrating their contribution over the years to the early childhood education (ECE) of hundreds of local children.
