One Tree Hill-Maungakiekie – your access code for the summit

Although the summit of One Tree Hill-Maungakiekie is now closed to vehicles, if you have mobility issues, you can still drive up there. However, to open the barrier on the day, you need to call  Auckland Council for an access code. Not only have some residents had trouble finding the correct telephone number to call, but once they have called, they have been passed from pillar to post, as no-one at the other end had the right information.

Onehunga Community News contacted the Tūpuna Maunga Authority to find out the best way to get an access code. Nick Turoa, Tūpuna Maunga Authority operations manager says, “We are well aware that time is of the essence for visitors with limited mobility when they are at the gate and needing a code, and we also want to see those calls processed quickly and accurately. The Tūpuna Maunga Authority team is working with Auckland Council call centre management on solutions to reduce call waiting times for access codes and ensure the correct information is provided quickly every time.”

To obtain a code, please phone Auckland Council on 09 379 1340 on the day of your visit.
