Bird tours

This Sunday, 23rd July, at 10.30am you have another chance to learn about the birds of the Manukau Harbour. Join a group of enthusiasts and experts for a short (20 minute) walk to the foreshore, leaving from the Ambury Regional Park information centre/stable, just inside the gate on the left.

Appropriate and comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended. The organisers notes say, ‘We will not be close to shelter so check the weather for the day and dress accordingly – a wind or rain jacket could be a good idea, especially if the wind is blowing in off the water’.

Bring a telescope, binoculars and/or a camera if you have one available.

The tours usually take around an hour, but there is some flexibility for the really keen. If you want to go back earlier just wander back the way you came.

This activity is suitable for older children, and it is interesting to walk along the foreshore trail after watching the birds. However, younger ones might find the walking a bit hard.
