Volunteers Needed for Child Cancer Foundation Street Appeal

The Child Cancer Foundation is seeking volunteers to help with its local street appeal on Friday, 18 or Saturday, 19 March.

March is Child Cancer Foundation Appeal month.  The aim of the month is to both raise awareness about the vital support the Child Cancer Foundation offers to children with cancer and their families and donations to support its work.

Each week more than three children in New Zealand are diagnosed with cancer and at any given time the Child Cancer Foundation is assisting more than 500 families’ nationwide – offering support in hospital, at home and in the community.

“The Child Cancer Foundation aims to reduce the impact of cancer by offering practical services that ensure children, and their families, are supported, informed and remain connected at every stage of their cancer journey,” says Child Cancer Foundation Chief Executive Robyn Kiddle.

“As a stand-alone charity that receives no direct funding from the government, our street appeal is a major fundraiser for us.  We are very grateful to anyone who can spare a couple of hours to raise funds to help brave Kiwi kids, and their families, fight cancer.”

People interested in volunteering as collectors can register at www.childcancer.org.nz or call 0800 424 453.
